Backlight issue on sides of BM320 monitor screen

I have 2 Acer BM320 monitors that I inherited from a family member. One monitor is absolutely fine but the other one has some backlight issues which is really distracting. It seems to be more than just a standard backlight bleed / halo effect that is often seen with monitor screens around the edges and corners.

I've attached a video to show what it looks like. As you can see, it's only on the side edges. The left side edge shows light leakage starting from the left bottom corner leading up to just over the half-way mark towards the top left corner of the screen. The right side edge shows light leakage starting from the right bottom corner reaching up to almost the the top right corner of the screen.

When the screen is all black, it is less noticeable because there is less light being emitted from the back light panel, whereas when the screen is white (e.g. working full screen with office applications or web browsing, it is very noticeable as shown in the video).

What is the cause of this issue and what can be done to fix or minimise it?

The below table is what the Acer BM320 monitor "Backlight no work troubleshooting" steps are from this monitors Acer service guide, I know its technical but that is how it is.

What is happening in your monitor by the video that you have sent, that it looks like the monitors LCD layers and filters that make up the screen have moved and they are allowing the backlight to fitter through to the side of the screen to be visible.

To fix this you will need to pull the monitor apart and realign and lay all the filters layers back again so that the backlight light will not come through the sides of the LCD monitor screens, these LCD monitors and TVs are very simple things really to fix if you have the patience😀 or if you have a TV technician near you, get a quote from them as they can fix this if it bothers you so much. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

If you need or want to go to the extent of buying either a new screen or a mobo for this monitor these are the parts that you will need

Yeah, that troubleshooting diagram won't help with backlight bleed issues, only useful when there is no backlight. The backlight is bonded in the panel, so if it's too far out of whack you have to replace the display. I'd live with it, and switch to a darker theme.
