It comes with one PCIe M.2 slot 3x4 for a Gen3 SSD like the samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB or larger. There is also a 2.5" Sata bay for a HDD or Sata SSD, if no Sata drive is installed you will need to get a HDD caddy and Sata flat ribbon cable. A reliable 2.5" Sata SSD is the Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND up to 2TB.

Yes, you can upgrade the boor m.2 SSD that is a PCIe3 x4 to 1TB, 2TB or 4GB and the 2.5” SATA 3 drive to the same of either a mechanical drive or an SSD drive. The drive capacity rules in windows operating system depend on the boot or slave drive format that the bios cooperates under like the MBR/Legacy format is for older computers and has a max capacity of 2.2TB and your Aspire A515-45 has a drive format of the GUID (GPT) UEFI which can have a max capacity of 8 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1000TB) that you will never ever reach😁 even though Acer only quotes mas 1TB for the M.2 SSD and 2TB for the 2.5" SATA 3 drive below. as you can have a 4TB M.2 or SATA 3 drive in GUID 9GPT) format.

To see the most suitable for your budget and the best and quickest M.2 drives have a look here at the Tom Hardware’s M.2 SSD drive benchmarking and remember that if you can buy a cheaper PCIe 4 x4 M.2 drive than a PCIe3 x4 than buy the Gen 4 M.2 drive as its backward compatible and will 100% with your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Acer quoted specs for the A515-45
