    Hi, if you check the AMD community you will find many topics with the Ryzen 5500U/5700U CPUs and unstable USB ports (AMD Framework laptop with USB-C charging issues), I recommend using the barrel plug power adapter for charging only: USB Ports highly unstable with 5000 Series CPU and... - AMD Community I also advise upgrading to Windows11, Acer released a brand-new BIOS version 1.10.

    Thanks for your reply Puraw!

    However, I’m not sure if the URL you gave is related to my question?

    I just want to know if I have a way to charge my Acer laptop if the regular power charger port stops working? It has stopped working in the past and it was a huge nightmare!😪

    IMO, the AMD CPU is related to your USB-C charging issue, and you cannot charge a laptop with the USB3.0 port. Did you upgrade to Windows11 and updated to the latest BIOS?

  • Can you tell me the model of the dock you want to connect to the USB-C port?

    @Brightness1982
    I checked your laptop specifications and it supports USB-C PD 65W charging. You can use a PD charger rated at least 65W to charge the laptop is the DC-port has failed.

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!

    Yes, as the others have stated spec says you can use your USB-C port to charge the laptop:

    You need a charger that provides at least 65W, though even a 100W will work well, so don't be forced into just the one size. It will be slightly more efficient if it supports the 20V option than if it only does one of the lower voltages.

    I just updated to the latest Acer 1.10 BIOS a few days ago and I'm running Windows 10 Pro.

    How does it matter if I upgrade to Windows 11????? 😥😥

    Because the BIOS version you just installed updates also the EC that controls the power and battery function for Windows11 23H2 and the latest drivers released by Acer are all for Winidows11, so it makes little sense to stick with Windows10. Also, W10 becomes obsolete next year. 😉
