Microsoft office Word & Excel is telling me I need a new product code

I need Word and Excel working. I expect it to be properly registered when I purchased the computer new a year ago. Tell me how to get these working again. (Just so you are aware if I have to drive 2 hours to the nearest computer shop I will not be happy)

If you bought the Office 2021 standalone software from Microsoft then you should have a key or the software is activated through Microsoft. If you only bought this software 1 year ago, search your email and see the correspondence for this software as the only way that you can activate Word and Excel is with a key or its activated automatically through Microsoft online.

In almost all cases, the version of Office 365 shipped with the machines is either a 90 day trial or a one year license. You have to purchase it after that time runs out. As suggested, if you are only using Word and Excel then the Home & Student desktop version will likely be least expensive overall. If you want to get automatic updates to the software as time goes by, and move it to a new computer when you replace this one, then the pay as you go license is liable to be better.
