Connecting a Higher Refresh Rate Monitor to Acer Nitro 7 AN715-51-51GR

I own an Acer Nitro 7 AN715-51-51GR laptop with a 60Hz display. I'm interested in purchasing an external monitor with a faster refresh rate. Is it feasible to connect a higher refresh rate monitor directly to my laptop? I've read about using a 30-pin to 40-pin HDMI cable. How can I determine the number of pins on my laptop's display connector? Or does this only apply while changing the inbuilt display and not while connecting an external monitor?

There is no problem connecting an external monitor with a higher refresher rate than 60Hz to your laptop as long as your AN715-51 has either the NVidia GTX1650 or RTX2060 GPUs then you can attach an external monitor through the HDMI v2.0 port only as this laptops USB-C port is not an external display port on the left side.

For the internal screen, you need to see which monitor model number is fitted to your Nitro AN715-51 as we can't tell you the exact model even if you say that your laptop has a 60Hz refresher rate. Install HWWiNO64 software and go to this software's Monitor section as your Nitro AN715-51 laptop screen model is there so compare it with the LED chart from the AN715-51 service guide.

These all the monitors fitted to the Nitro AN715-51 laptops and their refresher rates and video pins, have a look at which you have as the 144Hz refresher rate screen with the 40 pins will fit into your laptop with a 30pin to 40 pin adapter. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    • B156HAN02.0 – 60Hz (30 pin video connector)
    • N156HCE-EN1 – 60Hz (30 pin video connector)
    • LP156WFG-SPF3 - Refresh Rate: 144Hz – (40 pin video connector)
    • B156HAN08.2 - Refresh Rate: 144Hz – (40 pin video connector)

Look at the HWWiNO64 Monitor section for the mionitor model fitted to your laptop
