Mid game in DMZ (don't judge) whilst pressing W, the key cap came off stuck to the end of my finger :D is there somewhere i can buy replacements? i've only had the laptop since 19/04/24. Has only happened to the W key but I'd like to get replacements for a few frequently used keys just in case. Purchased laptop from Currys but I wouldn't trust them to dust a shelf. Have contacted Acer support but figured it couldn't hurt to ask here as well.

Thanks for reading!

Rich

    Contact Acer support and tell them that the "W" key of your PHN16-71 fell apart, try to claim this under Acer warranty and see how Acer responds? As keyboards especially keys and gaming don't go very well together if you press them hard and often like the allocated W-A-S-D keys that are highlighted for gaming. Buit for the DMZ game you should use a controller like a Razer Wolverine Ultimate or similar and not the keyboard as its not a real gaming controller.

    Try Acer support and see how you go as if Acer won't fix the keyboard or replace the keyboard there are places where they sell individual key repairs kits, see here Acer Helios Neo PHN16-71 Keyboard Key Replacement or quckfixlaptopkeys. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    @StevenGen

    Thank-you for the feedback, I'll have to have a look at those sites and find a UK equivalent.

    I appreciated every part of your response - with exception to a keyboard not being a real gaming controller, that almost hurts my soul, i could not imagine gaming with anything other than keyboard and mouse, the last games i used a controller for were along the lines of Tekken :D

    Seriously though, thank-you for the feedback, much appreciated.

    😁fair enough I appreciate your point of view and choice of a keyboard to play games, as I find keyboards very awkward to game with especially racing games and DMZ, I also use a controller. But I'm just giving you feedback as Acer could reject your warranty claim as a keyboard is a consumable part of the laptop and they can say that you pressed the "W" key too hard and that is why it broke, just a thought of why keyboards are made for typing. Good luck and happy gaming.

    Yes, I'm expecting the response to be along those lines, naturally I will debate with them on the aspect of selling a specified gaming laptop but neglecting to advise that the built in keyboard isn't designed for gaming, I'm hoping though that they just give me a link to purchase more keys / key caps, as I haven't actually requested a warranty claim. I could have and to a degree, should have, but I already know the method used for attaching the key caps to the scissor clamp below is flimsy at best :D

    Thank-you for your input!

    Hey Rich,

    You can look for replacement keycaps for your PHN16-71 laptop on websites like eBay or Amazon, where they often sell individual keys or full replacement sets. Also, you can check with Acer support for specific key cap replacements, especially since the laptop is still fairly new. A local electronics or computer repair store might also help if you need something more immediate. Best of luck!
