My acer aspire 5 is about 3 to 4 yrs old, even if that might seem pretty old, it was in perfect condition until suddenly after reinstalling windows due to some problem, battery life majorly dropped. Just before the repair, it was getting about 8 to 10 hrs of battery life, but now barely getting 2 to 3 hrs…….. Would like to know if this is fixable via any software method ro it is a physically occured damage to the battery……..

    Hi. you can't compare legacy machines with modern CPUs and Windows11 23H2, that consume 2-3 x more power, 3-4 hours battery life is normal, accept that fact and stop worrying about your battery, instead enjoy your laptop, keep the charger-power adapter plugged in 24/7 and your battery fully charged, uninstall all battery monitoring bloatware like Acer Care Center and replace your battery when wear gets >50% as the draining gets non-linear and unexpected battery power drops can happen which is normally after 4 years daily use. 😉

    3 to 4 hrs if I was receiving fine but just 1 hr or max 2 when taking to school is not convinient to use charger.

    @NiranjanManoj123

    Check and close most of the unused background apps in the taskbars. Change the power plan to battery saver in battery mode.

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!

    If you notice a sudden drop of the battery capacity while not having changed hardware or installed new big programs, check that your background processes don't exceed much more than 75 in Task Manager-Processes and run the Windows battery report command: powercfg /batteryreport, if that shows that the last full charged capacity is less than 50% of the design capacity replace the battery.
