Hello everyone.

It all started when my laptop just shut down while I was working. When I pressed the power button nothing happened, regardless of whether the laptop was connected to the power supply. After 5 minutes, it did turn on, but it turned off again after about 30 seconds. All the advice I found on the Internet for such cases did not help.

Then I decided to take off the bottom cover and disconnect the battery (the warranty period had expired just two weeks ago). There I smelled a strange odor, as if in the area of the video card cooler, but I'm not sure about that. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the laptop turned on as if nothing had happened.

But another problem appeared: the laptop stopped working on battery power. It worked fine with the battery connected and without it at all. When I disconnect the power cable, the laptop shuts down.

The next day, I removed the battery completely and measured its voltage. Instead of 15-17 volts, it was only 5-7 volts (I had to measure the voltage on all the pins of the connector, because I couldn't find a diagram or anything on the Internet, and everywhere the voltage was no more than 7 volts).

However, AIDA64 or any other program for monitoring the battery status shows that the battery is fully charged and the voltage is 17 volts.

So, I had the idea to just replace the battery. What are the chances that this will help? And if I do replace it, is it possible to replace AP21D8M with, for example, AP18E8M (it is almost identical in terms of characteristics, but it is a lithium-polymer battery). It's just that in my country, it's unrealistic to buy AP21D8M.

P.S. Please don't even try to offer options such as “hold the power button for 30 seconds, reset the bios settings, sacrifice a sheep and jump three times”. I've already tried all of that (except for the sheep, sheep are cute).

P.P.S. I don't speak English well, and all this text was written with the help of a translator. Therefore, it is possible to use incorrect terms or something like that.

P.P.P.S. The laptop is only a year old, and it was mostly used with a power cable. It worked on battery power at best once a month.
