Hi all,

I have observed in the task manager of Windows 11, of my Swift Go 14, SFG14-73T model, PxiTpService (32 bit) is consuming CPU at the start is very High, later it slowed down, I searched what is it, or which program is related to it, but didn't find anything.

I have done a Windows reset with, Keep My Files - Local Reinstall, and even after reset this is still running and consuming the CPU.

Please help me with it. Is it a kind of malware or is it a system file of Acer, as I haven't seen this before.

PxiTpService (32 bit) is a service related to the Acer Touchpad, often responsible for managing touchpad functionalities. High CPU usage at startup can occur but typically decreases over time. This is not malware; it's a legitimate system process.
If the issue persists, consider updating your touchpad drivers or disabling the service. if it's not essential for your usage.

To disable the PxiTpService (32 bit) using MSCONFIG in Windows 11, follow these steps:

    1. Open MSCONFIG: Press Windows + R , type msconfig , and press Enter.
    2. Go to the Services Tab: In the System Configuration window, click on the Services tab.
    3. Hide Microsoft Services: Check the box for Hide all Microsoft services to avoid disabling essential Windows services.
    4. Find PxiTpService: Look for PxiTpService in the list of services.
    5. Disable the Service: Uncheck the box next to PxiTpService to disable it.
    6. Apply Changes: Click Apply, then OK.
    7. Restart Your Computer: Restart your PC for the changes to take effect.

I also have noticed this on an Acer Swift Go 14

To also quit the Task without Resetting add the following to the instructions:

    • CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to start the Task Manager
    • Go to the Services Tab (last icon)
    • Press Keyboard P
    • Find PixArt Tochpad Service
    • Hit Stop

I see that the touchpad still works. I think this is only related to the media playback features (the icons showing up when you are in youtube, netflix & co.

But that is too much CPU drain (4-7% in idle on Powersave mode when running on battery) for such a small feature

I also have the same problem right now on Acer Swift Go 14 (SFG14-73). When i start the PxiTpService.exe, the cpu starts running high until i kill the process with task manager.

My touchpad media controls also does not work. I can see all of them, but only volume control is responding. When i touch on play/paus, next, forward and fullscreen, nothing happens.

My guess is that either the driver or something with .NET-Framework is corrupt. When you open Windows Eventviewer, you can see an application error and .NET-Framework error for the PxiTpService.exe.

So this looks like something with the driver/service itself is wrong and we have to wait for an update.

I also contacted Acer support about this, but the only resonded that it is a hardware problem and my laptop has to be repaired. Maybe give me a like or a response, if you have the same problem shown in Eventviewer.

I have exactly the same issue. My touchpad works fine for anywhere between a few hours and a few days. Then I see a pop-up message telling me the driver is being updated, but several of these pop-up messages spawn without completing, and they just keep spawning all over the screen. I can only stop it by disabling the touchpad entry in Device Manager. In Event Viewer, I have the same issue with PxiTpService.exe errors every minute or so.

I have tried resetting my system using the repair patch (Windows Update), and I have tried installing the latest available drivers. It's always the same. Somewhere between a few hours and a few days, BOOM, the pop-ups appear and the touchpad stops responding.

I have twice been told by Acer Support that it's likely to be a hardware fault. My laptop is three months old and otherwise working just fine (between reboots to reset the touchpad). I don't believe it's a hardware issue. Not remotely.

Have you tried manually doing a driver update for your PixArt touchpad? Their early drivers were a bit buggy IIRC.

Thanks micattack. My touchpad is working again but I did not stop it but instead 'Restart' it. I still cannot find the touchpad in my Device Manager :(.

Update. :( Problem not fixed. The message keeps appearing, the driver is being updated and my touchpad stops working.
