Hey there,

I recently bought an acer laptop Extensa 214-53 & want to install correct drivers but the thing is that the driver section shows multiple drivers for the same thing like for example I have realtek LAN driver there & for WLAN I have mediatek as well as realtek driver here so it did be great if you guys would help me to install the correct ones.

This the link for my driver page which I got by using the SNID & I am on windows 11. The only thing I know is I don't need any nvidia or synaptics driver as I have none of them aside from those I am not sure what to pick from.

Also can I auto update bios or need to do it with USB?

Lastly, what is AcerSense & Acer care center for ? Do I need them both or one of them or none is needed?

Thanks In Advance.

How to install driver & upgrade bios

Hi, don't install drivers or update your BIOS unless you have serious hardware issues which is unlikely with a brand-new laptop, if you do have issues with your new laptop bring it back to the retailer as you have 15 days to get a full refund or a new unit. Installing drivers and firmware indiscriminately will eventually brick your new laptop and Acer warranty may also be voided (major expense to fix). No, you don't need the Acer bloatware Acer Care and AcerSense. What you should do is update Windows11 23H2 to version 22631,4037 as soon as possible and enable Optional Updates in Advanced settings "Check for updates" in Windows 😉

I actually want to install drivers as the retailer didn't install windows so have to do all by myself

If you Clean install Windows correctly all the necessary drivers will be installed automatically during the process.

I have windows driver update disabled as I don't want windows to control that actually

Good luck with that as you can't disable Windows update with Windows Pro, the policy may work for a while but eventually you will find that your GPU drivers have reverted to the original OEM versions. It looks like you don't like Windows much? 😑

It's almost always better to just let Windows do the driver updates, but if you aren't going to do that you can use Device Manager to determine what is needed. Open DM and see which drivers are missing, it will show an error or warning on any devices that it doesn't understand. Either use the device name or go into Properties, Details, Hardware IDs and get the device type and model. From that go to the Acer site and download the drivers for that. In your example, you have two different Mediatek WLAN devices possible on your model. You need to figure out which is physically installed, then download the newest driver for that device type. If you were using Windows Update, it would figure that out for you.
