Not Booting Nitro AN16-41. Black Screen and Lit Keyboard After Attempting to Load Linux Live USB

Hello, I really need your help

I have an Acer Nitro AN16-41 (NH.QKBEU.004). I tried to boot a Linux Live CD from a USB stick. The boot menu loaded fine, but when attempting to load Linux, the laptop got stuck on a black screen with a blinking cursor. I had to hold the power button to turn it off.

After removing the USB and trying to power on the laptop again, it won't boot. The keyboard lights up, but the screen stays black, and there are no sounds indicating that Windows 11 is starting up. I can't even access the BIOS, as the laptop doesn't reach the logo screen.

I suspect there might be an issue with the BIOS, but I'm unsure. Is there anything else I could try to fix this? I prefer not to open the laptop to remove the CMOS battery, as it is still under warranty.

Thank you for your help.

You need to Hard Reset your laptop, which needs you to open the back cover and take the battery out and disconnect the bios battery and short the bios battery mainboard plug +&= pins (as shown below) with a metal screwdriver to reset CMOS, then reconnect everything and reboot the laptop.

Note: Opening the back cover does not void the warranty of your laptop as Acer allows upgrades of ram which entails opening of the back cover. Do not take out or open the back cover if there is an Acer warranty sticker(s) on the cover or on any components like the battery or ram inside of the laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The hard reset unfreezes the EC chips which you must have either affected or in extreme cases this EC chip is shorted, and it will need to be changed, so if the hard reset doesn't boot your laptop, send the laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country and get your AN16-41 repaired under warranty.

Unplug the charger and hold the power button for 15 seconds. This will reset the BIOS.

I didn’t risk opening the back cover of the laptop myself, as Acer’s phone support advised that only an authorized service center should perform this procedure. Even though there are no security seals on the cover screws, I decided to send the laptop to the official service center. The Acer service center confirmed that the issue was resolved after resetting the BIOS using the CMOS battery.
