Acer docking station compatibility with an Acer Chromebook model 311 (C723-K22H)

I have an Acer docking station D501 and an Acer Chromebook model 311 (C723-K22H) from school. How can I get a dual external monitor setup working with this combination? When using the docking station, my two external monitors only duplicate. When I look at Settings>Device>Displays, I only see the built-in monitor and one external monitor. But in reality, both external monitors show duplicate images. I’d like to keep my Chromebook lid shut and have both external monitors operate in an extended fashion. How can I accomplish my goals?

Using a Docking Station with Your Acer Chromebook - Acer Community the external monitors will work in extended mode. you can keep your Acer Chromebook 311 running even when you close the lid. By default, Chrome OS puts your Chromebook to sleep when you close the lid, but you can change this setting. Here’s how:

Click the clock area to open the system tray.
Click on the Settings cog.
Scroll down and under the Device section, click Power.
Toggle the switch beside “Sleep when lid is closed” to the Off position.
