I got this monitor for very cheap on sale. Everything else works perfectly, all the colors are good and the online lcd tests are also good.

The only time I can barely notice is when some dark scene is present around that area.

Please let me know your opinion.

That's the downside of IPS monitors. The issue can vary in severity across different IPS monitors and is only noticeable in dark scenes. If you replace this monitor with another one, the issue may persist, though it might be less /more noticeable. If it becomes too annoying or disturbing, you should consider a replacement. However, if you’re getting good colors, if the issue is minor, and if you hardly notice it, then it's likely normal. My IPS laptop and IPS external monitor exhibit the same behavior. It's only a problem if it's excessive and distracting."

How Much IPS Bleeding is Normal?

IPS (In-Plane Switching) panels are known for their excellent color accuracy, wide viewing angles, and vibrant colors. However, one common issue with IPS monitors is backlight bleeding, also known as IPS glow. Backlight bleeding occurs when the backlight of the monitor leaks through the edges or corners of the screen, creating a visible glow. Some degree of backlight bleeding is considered normal for IPS panels due to the nature of the display technology. Here's a general guideline on how much IPS bleeding is considered normal:

    Minimal Backlight Bleeding

    • Backlight bleeding should not be visible in normal lighting conditions or when viewing content with bright backgrounds.
    • It should only be noticeable in very dark rooms when viewing content with black or very dark backgrounds.
    • The glow should be subtle and not significantly impact the overall image quality or viewing experience.

    Excessive Backlight Bleeding

    • If the backlight bleeding is severe enough to be distracting or noticeable in normal lighting conditions or when viewing regular content, it is considered excessive.
    • Bright, uneven patches of light around the edges or corners of the screen that are visible in normal use are not normal.
    • If the backlight bleeding is so severe that it washes out dark details or colors, it is considered a defect.

Keep in mind that some variation in backlight bleeding is normal between individual units of the same monitor model. If the backlight bleeding on your monitor is excessive and distracting, you may want to consider exchanging it for a replacement.
