Acer Aspire M5-481PT Boot Issues Win 10

Hello Community,

Been having the following two issues booting my very old laptop from 2012 ( I know I need a new one).
1) HDD: WDC WDC5000LVPT-22G33T0 Boot Failed

2) Preparing Automatic Repair (which never finishes

I was thankfully able to get into Setup Utility after reading so many posts both on this forum ( thanks @billsey ) and others by performing multiple hard reboots and pressing F2. But now that I’m here at the Setup Utility Screens and I don’t see the suggestions mentioned in posts I read. So I would appreciate further directions from an Ace to allow me to get into windows safe mode or at the very least a fairly straightforward way make a copy of my files. 🙏

Pics of what I see are attached. Also, if there is a physical startup CD I need to insert, will you please tell me how to get one cause I can’t seem to locate my originals from Acer or Windows. Or is there a way to get to a restore from a specific date (like 4-15-24)? 😦

Thank you in advance for your help! 🙏

The WDC WD5000LPVT-22G33T0 boot drive that you have in your old 2012 Aspire M5-481PT laptop is a Dinasaur as it was released in Q4/2013 and its probably faulty and that is why you are getting these VERY S_L_O_W boot times and the continual and painful long repairs etc etc.

What I suggest, if you want to keep using this old laptop, is that you buy a new 2.5" SATA 3 SSD boot drive (preferably a 500GB or a 1TB Samsung 870 EVO SATA 3 SSD) and if you eventually can boot into the old WD drive, is try and do a clone of the old drive if you can boot into the old drive? If not, then do a Clean Install of Win-10 onto this new 2.5" SSD drive completely as that is what will speed your boot time up by 1000% and will make your Aspire M5-481PT laptop behave completely differently and it will be like a new laptop.

If you have valuable data on the Aspire M5-481PT laptop old 2.5" WD old boot drive, I suggest that you get an expert recovery data technician to recover that data for you, as and if you attempt to recover any of this data, yourself, you will dame and lose that valuable data and it won't be worth doing.

Look at this guide here "How to Boot or Repair Windows computer using the Installation Media" as this explains it to you exactly. Good luck.
