Laptop Cord - Flame coming out the end of it

Daughter was on her laptop last night and talking with a friend and suddenly she saw a flame at the wall. Have others dealt with issue with the plug end of the cord being brittle and breaking enough to flame due to arcing?

Incompatible DC plug size can cause sparks and eventually burn, make sure the correct Acer recommended adapter for the laptop is used and that the DC plug is fully inserted in DC port till a click is noted. I prefer the straight type of DC plug and not the angled type that continuously move when inserted. Have the laptop DC port replaced by Acer Services in your country (not an expensive repair) and get a new Acer endorsed power adapter,
