i have 512gb nvme drive default installed by acer, I added a 1tb nvme ssd.

I go to windows, drive shows up.

but if i go to bios the 1tb nvme is not being detected only the 512gb, when i go to windows, 1tb nvme is not showing up in windows explorer not even on disk management.

Even if i restart multiple times drive will not show up.

But if i shutdown, then open pc and do not go to bios, 1tb nvme will show in windows.

Any suggestions?

Did you check in BIOS, first Info screen, if Sata mode is set to AHCI and not RST-Optima, you may have to press Ctrl+S to see the hidden Sata mode option.

    It is set to ahci.

I went back to the store where i bought the nvme drive and tried a new nmve but same model. The tech thought the nvme drive is broken. But This time, sometimes the new nvme drive is detected in the bios and sometimes its not.

Is it possible the kingston nvme ssd is not compatible?

I finally fixed my issue. The kingston ssd was not compatible. I tried different kinds of ssd (hiksemi future and transcend) and it worked without any issues.

I was wondering why the kingston 1tb was not compatible. The default drive in my laptop is a 512 kingston.

These M.2 drives are all designed and constructed differently, maybe the 1TB Kingston that you had is a different construction or it has a different pin configuration, or it was faulty, as allot of the old M.2 Crucial drives were incompatible with Acer laptops too. I've never ever used Kingston M.2 SSD drives in any Acer laptops I've only used either WD or WD Black or Samsung 2.5" 870 EVO or 970 EVO Plus or 990 EVO Pro M.2 SSD drives and I've never ever had any problems as they are excellent and very reliable drives with great performance.
