I have a legacy Aspire desktop which I wish to preserve in a useful state and to which I would like to add a 2Tb SSD. I did replace the original HDD some years agoo with a half TB SSD but now wish to considerably increase the internal storage to, at least, 1Tb but preferably 2Tb with a new 2.5 inch SSD.

Can any responent also recommend a good brand of drive to use?

What is your Aspire laptop exact model number, as this is essential. Upgrading your M.2 SSD you need to clone the old boot drive onto this new 2TB M.2 SSD drive. What I presume is that your Aspire laptop has a Gen 3x2 M.2 SSD is the M.2 speed slot of your Aspire laptop. With the Gen 3 drives the best and quickest is the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB that is a PCIe3x4 that also has a great software for tuning and cloning called Samsung Magician and the cloning software that is a part of Magician is called Data Migration. that is the drive I would use. Good luck and hope this helps you out

What OS are you running on the Aspire 350? IIRC that's a really, really old model. You shouldn't have any issues with a 2TB drive, other than the main ones if you are on an old OS. FAT32 only supports individual files up to 4GB and MBR only supports volumes up to 2TB. If you system is old enough that it came with Windows 7 or earlier then you might be limited to MBR since it doesn't do UEFI boot…
