Nitro 515-56 still can't charge via USB C - Is there a switch to turn it on

I got some advice a few weeks ago - Thank you! This is a follow-up because the suggestions didn't work.

The community's advice was to get a more powerful USB-C charger, which I did. However, the laptop still will not charge via USB C - It won't even register that a PD USB is inserted.

Previous discussion - https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/708976/nitro-515-56-cant-charge-via-usb-c-is-it-compatible

Acer support has confirmed that the model should charge via USB C but will not say how to allow the charging. They say a 90+w USB-C charger should do it.

I now have a 140w USB-C charging feed, with a 200W cable, which is a higher rating than the original charger but the laptop doesn't even notice when it plugs in.

** Does anyone know of a computer or bios setting that allows USB charging?

Model details below:

MS Windows 11 System Information says:
- System model is Nitro 515-56
- System Name: LAPTOP-PMDDM6J8
Label on the back says :
- Model N20C1
- AN515-56-58H8

Drivers up to date

Thunderbolt controller says Thunderbolt 4
There is a Thunderbolt Lightning icon next to the USB C port

There is a settings option to post a warning if USB charging isn't sufficient but I don't get that message.

My other laptop and Chromebook both charge from the options that I have.

The Nitro AN515-56 laptop can't be charged with a USB-C charger, this laptops oem barrel charger is a 180W/19.5V adapter and that is the best way to charge and keep the power 24/7 to this laptop. As you can see in the below specs @ Power Delivery for Charging its says Not/Applicable! Good luck and hope this helps you out.

This is the Nitro AN515-56 laptops USB port and USB 3.1 Type C Port specs from its service guide

The 2020 Intel Core i5-10300H specs do not mention Thunderbolt but the 2021 Intel i5-11300H specs include TBT 4 and you have the thunderbolt sign next to the port, what CPU do you have, 2020 or 2021? Whatever is the case StevenGen shows this model does not support Power delivery and our earlier replies only based on the CPU specs were incorrect 😑.

The Nitro AN515-56 ONLY came fitted with an 11th Gen cpu and with either a GTX1650 or RTX3050 gpu NOT a 10th Gen cpu, the Nitro 10th Gen cpu is the AN515-55 model which is a completely different model.

    AN515-56 USB 3.2 Type C Port (Its not a TBT4 port)

This is USB-C charging port from a Swifr SFX14-51G that is a TBT4 also

    I don't know the date but I have the later processor - 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz, 3110 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s).

    BIOS Version/Date Insyde Corp. V1.06, 16/08/2021

There is a Thunderbolt Lightning icon next to the USB C port

Interesting that Acer Support says that the model can be charged!?!

Apparently, this model comes only with the 11th gen CPU (see StevenGen's last post) and Power delivery has not been implemented on the motherboard by Acer.

I've got the same laptop and have had it since new, my AN515-56 has the i7-11370H/RTX3050 and I'm running the latest 2024 bios version 1.10 "1. Update chipset security integration for W11 SV2 2.Update chipset security integration for may 23 CI" and the caption above is the icon that is on the right side of my laptop, and I've tried to plug a 200W USB-C charger into that port and its completely dead, so I speak from experience.
