Is there an internal modem that can be connected directly to the cable from the service provider?

    I believe you are referring to an Ethernet cable/RJ45 or DSL phone connection, both require RJ45 or RJ11 sockets in the PC. If you want to connect an internal PCIe socket with an adapter and cable to an external modem you need to consult the modem company how to do that.

    As far as I know there is no one selling a cable modem as a PCIe card. They are all the external boxes that convert your cable connection to an Ethernet. Some have routers built in, some do not. Check with your ISP to see what's best for your use.
