It started about 4 months ago and its progressively getting worse. Every few minutes it will completely drop the wifi and I have to manually rejoin. Any suggestions please.

Always first check the router if it uses the correct band, has the latest internet plan/SIM card and check the link quality with another Windows PC and a W-Fi card, cellular or Apple devices are androids and not the same. Use Ookla Speedtest to check the ping if very high (200-600ms) paste this ping command in the command prompt: ping -n 10 community.acer.com if that returns 10 x Zero Packets lost your latency is OK but if packets are lost it indicates limited bandwidth (too much traffic) and you should complain to the ISP/phone company about the high latency causing internet drops. If your mobile router is very old get a new 5G or LTE-A one ($10-50). After having checked this and you still suspect your network adapter settings, reset network in Windows and in the command prompt:

    1. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
    2. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
    3. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter. (This will stall for a moment.)
    4. Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter. (Don’t restart yet.)
    5. Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
    • and restart.

    1. Update WIFI Driver manually

Visit Manufacturer's Website: Go directly to the website of your Wi-Fi adapter's manufacturer (e.g., Intel, Realtek) and search for the latest driver for your specific model or you can also use any 3rd party software for updating driver like driver easy, driver booster (only prefer 3rd party software route if you can't latest driver on manufacturer site) . If you're facing issues with the latest drivers or update not available on wifi adapter manufacturer site then sticking with the manufacturer’s recommended driver is more stable, especially for OEM systems

    2. Reset the TCP/IP stack. Open an elevated command prompt as Administrator and run the commands: netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset

    3. Disable the power saving setting for your network adapter. Go to ncpa.cpl > right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Configure > Power Management tab, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

To access the Network Connections settings via ncpa.cpl, follow these steps:

-Open the Run dialog: Press the Windows key + R simultaneously.

-Type the command: Enter ncpa.cpl in the Run box.

-Press Enter: This will open the Network Connections window directly.

(Also disable your wifi adaptor power saving from Device manager)

According to the information you provided, your Acer Nitro5 gaming laptop encounters network disconnection problems when playing games.

    1. Check the network connection:
    • Make sure the computer's wireless network card driver is up to date. You can visit the Acer official website to download the latest driver.
    • Right-click the network connection icon and select "Open Network and Sharing Center" to check whether the local connection or wireless network connection is disabled. If so, please enable them.
    1. Restart the router:
    • If the network connection is normal, but the network is still disconnected during the game, try restarting your router or adjusting the wireless network settings.
    1. Network diagnostics:
    • Use the network diagnostic tool built into Windows to check if there are network problems.
    • You can also test your network speed on the speed test website to confirm whether it meets the standards required for the game.
    1. Game and network settings:
    • Check the game settings to make sure that there are no settings that cause excessive network usage.
    • Try to reduce the image quality or maximum pre-rendered frames in the game settings to reduce the burden on the graphics card, which may help reduce network disconnection.
    • If possible, try to run the game in a windowed manner, which may reduce the requirements for computer configuration.
    1. Hardware check:
    • Considering that your computer is a gaming laptop, hardware problems may also cause network disconnection. Check whether the computer's cooling system is working properly. Overheating may cause hardware malfunction.
    • If the failure has recently occurred, you may need to consider whether it is a hardware failure of the computer. If necessary, send it to a professional repair point for inspection.
    1. System update:
    • Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date, as system vulnerabilities or software conflicts may also cause network problems.
    1. Contact technical support:
    • If the above steps do not solve the problem, it is recommended to contact Acer's technical support for more professional help.
The above steps hope to help you solve the network disconnection problem. If the problem persists, further diagnosis by professionals may be required.
