Hi.

I searched on the forum for SSD upgrade for the Aspire 7 A715-72G series, but on the videos, I found the main board is a bit different from what I have on my laptop.

I do not have an SSD on my laptop. It is an HDD only. I would like to add one. Please advise, what type of SSD is supported by my laptop (slot, max capacity, and so on).

The photo of the mainboard is attached.

Thank you.

The M.2 slot of the Aspire A715-72G laptop is for both a PCIe and a SATA M.2 SSD drive. The fastest M.2 SSDs are the PCIe 3x4 8.0Gbits/s M.2 SSD drives that Acer fits oem to this laptop like the Intel SSDPEKKW512G7X1 or the Micron 512GB MTFDDAV512TBN or the Hynix SC308. For 1TB and 2TB M.2 SSD PCIe3x4 fastest tested M.2 drives see SSD Benchmarks Hierarchy 2024 and choose the Gen 3 x4 fastest drives.

Note: you are not restricted to 512GB limit, as you can put 1TB and 2TB M.2 drives into this laptop with a windows operating system which has a limit of and when its drive is MBR/Legacy drive formatted, is restricted to 2.2TB and when its drivee format is at GUID (GPT) format is restricted to 8 petabytes (1 petabyte = 1000TB).

Acer also fits the slower M.2 SATA 6.0Gbits/s SSD drives to this laptop like the MICRON MTFDDAV512T BN1AR1ZABYY or the HYNIX HFS512G39TNDN210A which I wouldn't fit as they are very slow and they will not give you the fast speeds of the Gen 3 x4 M.2 SSD drives. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
