For a close to 4 year old laptop you should have had the laptop fans and vents cleaned by now as that could be the main reason why your laptop is overheating. Also, it would be a good idea to change the paste and thermal pads of this laptop, take you latop to a technitian as most can do this for you.

This is the Aspire A715-41G thermal module and fans

The CPU begins to throttle when it reaches 97C, but you can see some decrease in clock speeds from 94-95C. At 100C the system will shut down. Usually the temperature should not rise higher than 97-98C. On the other hand, the GPU begins to slow down at 40C, because of NVidia boost 3.0. So I suggest that you get your laptop cleaned and the paste and pads changed as doing that will improve your laptops performance by 100%. Good luck.
