No bootable device on Aspire One 532h-2Db

Hello and thank you for spending your time on my question. I recently swapped the HDD of my mother's old laptop (model in the title) and although it turns on now (it didn't before) i shows the messages:

"check cable connection",

"PXE-M0F : exiting Intel PXE ROM" and

"no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".

All of the help i could find online tells me to change the boot method of the laptop to "legacy " through the boot menu of the BIOS. That option is not available to me. Also, i have to note that in the BIOS it shows that the laptop is detecting the old HDD and not the new one, although the serial number it displays does not match the serial number of the HDD that i removed. I'm wondering if the solution is something that can be easily achieved with little to no tools and, if there is no solution, should i paint it blue and chuck it into the ocean, as my friend suggests?
