  • Keyboard (typing) entries suddenly Failed on Aspire R5 571T laptop * Tried Fn keys, individually & in recommended combinations - No joy! * Did Windows restart; apparently restarted [fan(s) running] - but black display * Again Tried Fn keys, individually & in recommended combinations - No joy! * Held power button for >1 minute - No change!? Fan(s) still running * Held battery reset for >1 minute - no change!? Fan(s) still running. ?? BTW - HOW is this even possible? * NB: With AC adapter disconnected, still shows two (2) solid Blue LEDs?! * Have removed back cover, pulled battery connector & awaiting any latent charges to dissipate.

Anyone have ANY useful insights?

I would suggest that the cheapest and best way is for you to take your laptop to a technician and get your laptop diagnosed for the exact faults that your laptop has. Don’t forget that your laptop is an 8 years old laptop and its battery should have been replaced and its keyboard does fail especially its power key and switch, so all those aspects need to be inspected in your laptop.

If you want to attempt to fix this problem try to do a Hard Reset first by taking the main battery out and disconnecting the RTC/BIOS battery and then shortening its +&- pins at the mainboard to reset CMOS and take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) then reconnect everything and see if that resets the EC, Chipset chips that could cause these problems and can fix your laptop to power on and boot.

If it doesn’t, then you could attempt to change the battery and keyboard and see if that will fix the problem, but imo, its allot cheaper for you to get a professional to diagnose your laptop and fix it. God luck.
