I want to upgrade my Aspire 7's screen to a higher refresh rate from 60hz to something like 144hz. I've researched a bit but I'm still not sure which type of screen to get let alone if it's possible with this model at all.

Panels are bought off the shelf so you can't rely on (generic) user guides or browsing, I recommend downloading HWINFO.64 freeware and open the Monitor tab, note down your screen brand, ID and part number, then go to www.panelook.com and enter your screen details in their database. You will be presented with your screen and all possible variations like Hz, IPS/TN, %anti-glare coating, eDP plug (30-40 pins) and vendor/availability. Check the compatibly with your laptop full model number and the panel size (thickness). You can find the details of your eDP cable on a sticker on the cable and count the number of pins inside the plug.
