How to resolve Acer W4 820 Windows 10 Tablet Touchscreen battery issues?

Hi!

This Acer W4 820 has performed many, many years since 2014....but soon after its upgrade to Windows 10, it developed touch screen issues ( top and bottom zones of touch screen , erratic ghost touches), and the battery just collapses as soon as I unplug charger. Acer India's repair center in India has not been able to provide a repair time cost quote as of writing, so I relied on a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and constantly plugged in charger to use my W4 820. Recently, I reset the tablet as it was throwing up Windows 10 update errors. This has unpaired the Bluetooth peripherals, and ergo, I'm unable to use the faulty touchscreen to log into this tablet.

Q1: Is there a way I can use a wired USB mouse and a powered USB hub to deliver micro USB power to my Acer W4 820 tablet?

Q2: Is there a way I can remotely log in using IP address and credentials, so that I can atleast enable Bluetooth to connect my BT Keyboard and BT mouse?

Q3:What repair options and prices are available to me?

Q4: If I can't connect BT Keyboard and mouse, can I instead format and install Windows 10 using a powered USB hub, delivering both micro USB power and USB key connection?

Q5: Can anyone recommend a trade in, refurbishing, recycling, repurposing, repair, replacement and or working solution this otherwise awesome Acer W4 820 tablet product?

Hoping to hear from ya! 😃

You can auction the laptop off at eBay or try to trade it in at an Acer promotion trade show, Amazon advertises sometimes trade-ins for popular start-level Acer laptops. If you haven't replaced the battery yet do that first as your battery will be dead after 10 years.

The W4-820 has an Atom Z3740 CPU and that is not compatible with Windows 11. Windows 10 should work, but only the 32bit editions.

Q1: You can use an OTG cable to provide both power for charging and data. I used to have a USB hub connected to the data side. Power will be connected to the power side of the OTG and the hub to the data side.

Q2: If you have Windows 10 Pro instead of Windows 10 Home, you can enable Remote Desktop and come in that way through a network connection.

Q3: It's really dependent on your location.

    Q4: See Q1.

Q5: Other than matching the small size, I use the Spin models these days. They provide the full tablet interface and can be flipped to the laptop interface instead as well. I'm in laptop mode right now, so I can type on the keyboard, but do all my gaming in tablet mode… Mine is 13"though, so much larger than the 8" yours is.
