Webcam doesn't work and is not findable in the pc (AN517-55)

Wanted to have a Teams call, found out video wasn't working. So I went to look if my webcam had no access (privacy or otherwise). Laptop tells me he can't find the camera.

Went to look for a driver that maybe was not installed. But on the support page for my model there are no driver updates for the camera.

Any and all assistence is welcome.

Hi SanderDeronde, good to hear from a countryman again.😉

There are no drivers for the integrated webcam, that is completely controlled by Microsoft like the touchpad. Open the Command Prompt and paste this commend msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and you will see this troubleshooter:

Click on Advanced to enable repairs or just on Next. If that didn't find anything wrong go to Device manager and in Cameras uninstall the Webcam driver. Just reboot and check if your webcam is working again. If you don't see a webcam driver you can restore your system to a date before this happened. Type Restore and click on "Create a restore point" and click on System restore with a date. (takes only 5 minutes to restore, you won't lose anything):

If you don't see any restore point dates, System Protection is not turned on, I recommend keeping System Protection always enabled.

    Hi Puraw,

"If that didn't find anything wrong go to Device manager and in Cameras uninstall the Webcam driver."

This seems not to be on my laptop?

-Uninstall your camera driver and scan for hardware changes

-In Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) on your camera, and then select Properties.

-Select the Driver tab, then select Uninstall Device. Select the check box for Delete the driver software for this device, then select OK.

-In Device Manager, on the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes.

-Wait for it to scan and reinstall updated drivers, restart your PC, and then try opening the Camera app again. Hope this helps.
