Nitro AN715-51battery not charging, though computer recognizes it's plugged into the charger

I've had this laptop since early 2020 and it's been great except for one issue— the battery. A few months in I realized that the battery wasn't charging anymore, it would just say "x% available (plugged in)". The percentage would gradually decrease as time went on. A local repair place did a battery reset and that fixed it for a bit, but it happened again, so I just replaced the battery. That fixed it, but over the years the issue has arose a few times, so I've replaced the battery whenever it happens. I'm wondering if it's not actually the battery itself that's the issue; I've made sure battery and charger drivers are up to date, I've checked for firmware updates.

Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated! The laptop itself works fantastic in all other regards.

It appears that your adapter is unable to fully charge the battery, check the power of the adapter and get a larger one, you are not posting the laptop model so I cannot suggest a good adapter. Power adapters are not expensive and cheap OEM adapters last 3-5 years maximum. You also may have a bad DC plug/port contact either the adapter plug pin with a wrong size (very common) or the laptop DC port is bad (rough handling). Try to wiggle the adapter plug when inserted and charging while the system is running and check if that affects the LEDs on the side of the laptop, if these LEDs change you have a bad contact and try a new adapter or bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country to check/replace the DC port (not expensive). Also uninstall Acer Care Center and never use battery charge limiting bloatware. Check in Windows Services that ACCsvc is no longer running after you uninstalled ACC.

Its the battery, but those symptoms should not be happening with a genuine new battery for an out of the box laptop from Acer, you must have gotten a faulty oem battery and you should have gotten the battery changed under warranty. All laptop batteries these days have a mainboard that regulates the battery charge and power to the laptop, and also protects the battery and laptop from damage with a solder fuse which can trip and then the battery does not charge or work.

Batteries do wear out and they don't last forever, so be aware of that also, which must have happened to your second battery in this laptop. There are technicians that have a battery analyzer that can unlock frozen batteries that don't charge and/or can fix a battery solder fuse, but the price of getting this done by a technician is as much as buying a new battery anyway, so do some research and find out.
