hey guys I have a one year old PH16-71-74UU and I just started having this issue recently so not sure if it was an update problem. Pressing the power button does nothing even with a fully charged battery, as soon as I plug the laptop in it’ll turn on with a press of the button. I can then disconnect the power cable and the laptop does read fully charged. Any one have a solution to this?

If your laptop is still under warranty, then take the PH16-71 to Acer or send the laptop there. If its out of warranty, then do a hard reset as it seems that your laptops EC chip (that controls allot of functions in a laptop) is partially not working in your laptop or its frozen and by doing a hard reset it seems to unfreeze this chip and in allot of cases fixes boot and battery problems. Undo the back cover and take the main battery out, unplug the RTC/BIOS battery from the mainboard and short the +&- pins of the plug to clear CMOS, take the ram out and leave your laptop like that for 15min, reconnect everything and reboot, as this should fix that problem for you. If not, then you need to take you laptop to Acer support and get Acer to fix this problem for you. Good luck.
