So basically I have bought the VG242Y 165hrz 24-inch monitor and I can't seem to be able to get the 165 hours from it. I have changed settings in display options and I use my HDMI cable directly from my laptop to my monitor which should work but I don't seem to feel the difference at all, can anyone help or recommend anything?

There are the HDMI (1.4 or 2.1) port of your laptop and the max. refresh rate the GPU card(s) supports to consider too.

Hi @Khorkhelizuka That resolution depends first on the graphics card and its driver.
Secondly, the screen itself and it seems that its screen does not support more than 144 Hz at a resolution of 1920x1080.
    Can you get 144Hz?
Have you tried the DP port (Display Port) instead of HDMI?
(the monitor has DP but I don't know if your computer has a DP output, if it does, try it)

    Greetings.
