I recently encountered low fps on my old games on my laptop... It has been very frustrating since I have tried multiple fixes and none seems to work long term, I tried updating my drivers, resetting windows, having a clean installation of windows, cleaning it, re-applying thermal paste, resetting the battery, but none work... I'm quite frustrated at this point, I'm not even looking for a clean 120 fps despite having a 144hz built-in monitor, I just want a clean 60 fps.

What specific game are you having issues? Also, check the temperature to make sure that the laptop is not overheating.

I tried playing Conan Exiles and Genshin Impact both are having very inconsistent frame rates… from 60 to 20 fps… I also recently tried to benchmark with Heaven Benchmark and I was able to notice that my frames were really inconsistent… What's even worse is that even in very low settings, I still get these bizarre fps inconsistencies.

I tried benchmarking again, but manually in wuthering waves this time, I was able to replicate the issue, by rotating the perspective view in 360 as well as when performing multiple actions(know that I am not even playing in max settings and I know that I am not supposed to play in minimum settings for I have seen 2 different laptops with the same models and upgrades as mine playing this game on max settings but with 60 fps no drops), I remembered that this was my case on Conan Exiles.

Update: I tried clean installing windows again, but to no avail… I cannot see where the issues are exactly coming from… I only know at this point, that none of my games can have a decent fps regardless of their graphics settings…

Try to use MSI afterburner. This app will show statistics such as CPU temps, frequency, GPU temps, frequency, power usage, and FPS.

Thanks for replying again… I'm not sure what to make of this… I tried reupdating my drivers again, I've seen some improvement in frame but the inconsistency in Frame Rates is still very apparent…

There is a way to enable on-screen display statistics for this app. You can search for how to make the statistics shown in the game display.

Thanks! This is how low my fps gets, even in low settings in AC6 FoR:

    Enable the CPU temperature also

Regarding the GPU temperature, I see that it is currently reaching 89C, which is not a safe zone for GPU. Does it jump to 89C randomly or does it stay near that?

I think the CPU temp is the one heating faster in my case… And I also noticed, that the game shows the loading screen for while… Which is pretty similar to when I had some issues with my game performance before that was being caused by battery malfunctions, I was able to fix it with a battery reset guide that I followed online… This time was a different case, I can tell… Despite having the video card working, and playing the game on an SSD, I somehow still encountered this issue… And I really can't tell if it's the temperature, malfunctioning cpu or the ssd, or maybe it a hardware issue… At this point, I am out of ideas… Here's one from Conan Exiles, I am currently playing on low end laptop mode, but I set my graphics to medium which was lower than what I used to apply on my graphics settings.

Edit: after testing I closed afterburner, I went back to Conan Exiles, only to meet a crash… Weird… But maybe an outcome of sudden termination of afterburner from the process…

There is something wrong with the GPU thermal paste application. It should not reach up to 89C like that.

What do you suggest that I should in terms of the application? Because I also noticed how off it looked when I tried to re-apply the paste…

What is the thermal paste you are using?

I used a generic one… I have one that is Deep Cool Z5… But I was not at home when I applied thermal paste, I used the one available at the place… Although, I was shocked to learn something weird… When I returned home… I tried my games for no reason whatsoever… And as it turns out, all of them are running pretty stable… I tried Wuthering Waves, Armored Core 6, and even Granblue Fantasy for good measure… I was shocked to see no fluctuation in Frames… Is it possible for a very hot whether to affect this kind of devices? I will make an update if something changes…

Update: turns out the thing is still unstable… But I'm starting to think that this is more of a CPU issue than GPU… Because the thing heats up way faster… I should probably have em' both repasted with a better cooling paste… Problem is, I don't have the right tools for disassembly of the heat sinks… I'll probably bring this to the shop for a full checkup…

Looking at the Nitrosense, I see that both CPU and GPU have reached the 90C range and are not at a safe threshold.

I suggest you use the PTM 7950 phase change thermal pad or Kyronaut if that pad is not available.

A hot environment will also affect the laptop's cooling. It is better to game on the laptop with the air conditioner or buy a laptop cooler to improve the temperature and stop the frame from dropping.

I wasn't able to buy new thermal pads yet… But I was able to change the thermal paste with cooler master… And the frame drops kinda disappeared, thought the games were still underperforming… However… Nvidia GPU driver just had an update, and thank god it fixed the issue… I am so happy right now… Thank you so much @AnhEZ28 for helping me a lot! I truly appreciate it, God bless you brother!

HeyKurochimaruKibajust want to ask, have you installed the NVidia GeForce Experience software that is made as an NVidia geme settings software for over 1800 of the major games on the market, as both Conan Exiles and Genshin Impact games are listed in the GeForce Experience supported games, so install this software and pay all your games through and what NVidia settings have for these and all games. That is what I do with my Nitro AN515-56 with the i7-11370H and the RTX3050 gpu and I've never had any problems. Good luck.
