Acer Nitro 5 AN15-57 Intel GPU driver that doesn't trigger Windows Update rollback

Hi all,

My unit is on the latest available BIOS 1.20 and is running the latest Win11 Home OK for what it is apart from one thing.

The only Intel GPU driver I can run successfully is this one:

• Provider Intel Corporation
• Version 30.0.100.9864
• Date 8/20/2021

If I use Intel DSU to update, use DDU to clean all Intel drivers and install the latest available, Windows Update immediately overwrites them back to this version.

I've tried using WinAero Tweaker and a Group Policy override to stop this from happening, but neither is effective.

Surely Acer can provide a driver that's less than almost 3 years old now, or there's a way to update this driver without losing stability or introducing flicker, etc?

You cannot install 3rd party drivers as Windows11 will remove those and reinstall the Acer approved drivers; you can delay updates but cannot stop that. I also don't recommend using Intel's DSA but enable Windows Optional Updates in Check for updates-Advanced settings and wait till a new Intel GPU driver is offered before these appear on Acer Support.

You can use the Windows Update MiniTool to disable the Acer specific driver, which allows the Intel one to stay in place.

You can try manually installing the driver downloaded from Intel in the device manager. Don't uninstall the driver from the Windows update as it will try to install itself again.
