An HDMI input isn’t a usual feature on laptops, your model HDMI 2.1 port does not support video/data-in, use your USB-C Display Port function for that,

The HDMI port on most devices is typically designed to serve as an output, which means it sends the signal out from the device. However, it is possible to use an HDMI port as an input with the help of additional hardware such as a capture card. A capture card can convert external HDMI signals into a format that a laptop or computer can display. To do this, you would connect the capture card to your laptop via USB, link the HDMI source to the capture card, and then use software like OBS to display the input on your laptop screen.

It’s important to note that you cannot simply change an HDMI output to an input by flipping the cable around or adjusting settings; the conversion requires specific hardware to interpret the incoming signal. Additionally, while some specialized laptops might come with HDMI input capability, this is not common and most laptops only have HDMI output ports.

If you’re looking to display content from another device on your laptop, using a capture card its a viable solution. Just make sure to check the specifications of your laptop and the capture card to ensure compatibility. Good luck and hope this helps you out and explains it to you in more detail.
