I just purchased an Aspire 5. I noticed that when I unplug the power cord the computer immediately shuts down, it's like the battery is not charged. What is the cause of this and how do I fix it?

If it's a new A5, the battery should be charged first before turning it on. If it's used, battery probably needs to be replaced.

Thanks Jack. This is a problem. I just received the laptop purchased from Amazon, so I assume that it is new. I plugged it in to the power outlet to setup the new computer then I shut it down and it remained plugged in for at least 18 hours. Even now after being plugged in for almost 24 hours the laptop will cut off immediately if I disconnect the power cord. Any thoughts?

Don't waste any more time on it than you already have. Immediately arrange to return it to the Amazon vendor as defective for a refund or Amazon credit. Don't delay. Do it now before the return merchandise authorization (RMA) period expires.
