Bought this laptop 3mos ago, it just randomly shut off yesterday. So i call support, they want the SNID to even conntect me. THERE IS NO LABEL ON THIS STUPID LAPTOP. So i try live chat. “Chat is available from 5am-2am CST”. It’s 2pm. “Chat is unavaliable”. [Sensitive Content] acer? not only did you sell a defective, [sensitive Content] laptop, you don’t provide any customer support.

Hello dannymexico09, sorry that you are experiencing this problem with your Acer product, but every Acer product has a sticker of what model S/N and SNID number your product is, if not then the product model S/N and SNID number is written on a sticker on the box that your laptop comes with, its impossible that these stickers are not there. Otherwise you must have bought this laptop used without a retail box and someone has taken the sticker off the back of the laptop and see if your laptop resets and turn on..

The best way if your laptop "randomly shut off " and you can't turn it back on with the power button or the power keyboard key is to do the external battery reset steps below (whichever one your laptop has below) and see if the laptop rests?

Otherwise and if the below battery resets don't work, then you need to do a hard reset which entails opening the back of the laptop and disconnecting the main battery, disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and short its +&- mainboard plug pins (to reset CMOS) and then take the ram out, leave the laptop disassembled and like that for 15min and then reassemble everything back together, as this hard reset should reset a frozen EC chip and make your laptop reboot and make it turn on or off properly and stop the random shut offs. Good luck.

    Battery Reset Methods for laptops

    1. See if there is a pin hole on the back of the laptop for a battery reset and get a paper clip and press that in for 10 seconds

    2. Or press the power button or power keyboard key to reset the battery like below:
