BIOS update removes hibernation on SF114-34

My wife and I have the same model of Acer Swift 1. It is the SF114-34.

I have updated the Bios on mine to 1.16. Hers is still on 1.13.

Hers can hibernate, but this option is not available on mine. Is the BIOS update responsible?

I tried to downgrade my BIOS, but I am only allowed to flash to a newer version.

If Acer removed hibernation they must have had a reason?

I found a solution from a member of the Elevnforum.

open terminal or cmd and run powercfg /h /type full. This doubles the size of hiberfil.sys and enables hibernation.

Microsoft recommends since Windows 11 to disable Hibernate and that should automatically disable Fast Startup too, if not disable Fast Startup as both these options create problems with Windows new "Modern Standby" (the new suspend mode). Windows security won't allow you to downgrade BIOS versions and don't try to "flash" a BIOS version with a USB drive as that will brick your laptop.

In my Window's Control Panel….Power Options, it says the opposite.

According to powercfg ,Mm laptop only offers S3. Actually, it was the InsydeH2O executable that refused to flash an older version of the BIOS.

Microsoft does not recommend disabling hibernation, they just don't enable it by default. Too small of a hibernation file can cause issues, but typically the default size is fine.
