Hi,

I was searching online to find how I can tell the version of the integrated video adapter of my new Acer Swift 3 SF314.

All I can tell is it's "Intel UHD Graphics". But, online, historically, there seem to be different versions.

In the Windows 11 command prompt, when I run this command:
wmic path win32_VideoController get name

I only get
Intel(R) UHD Graphics

I also tried Using System Information in Windows11 (msinfo32) and I can't get more information.

How can I know more details about the version/generation?

Thanks in advance!

It depends on the Intel CPU and your laptop model if that is SF314-511 you either have a i3 (2), i5 or i7 CPU with the corresponding GPU chips and drivers. Also, if you have the IrisXe GPU but RAM is running in Single Channel mode the Intel driver will default to plain UHD graphics. So, check your complete laptop model, what CPU you have and what RAM is soldered on the motherboard (8GB Single Channel or 16GB DDR5 in Quad mode). Then post the details on this forum.:

    • 1. Regarding the model, on the back-plate of the laptop the written model is: SF314-511-52N4

    2. Regarding the CPU, when I run the following command in CLI:

    wmic CPU get NAME

    I get this output:

    12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12450H

    3. Regarding the RAM, when I run the following command in CLI:

    wmic memorychip list full

    I get this output:

I don't understand why I get 8 BankLabel outputs, but according to System Information in Windows11 (msinfo32), the Installed Physical Memory (RAM) is 16.0 GB.

    Any thoughts?

You get 8 bank labels due to the way that memory is handled internally. The 16GB of memory that is soldered to the motherboard likely uses eight chips, four on the top of the board and four on the bottom. As you can see from the output of that command the memory chips used are Samsung K3LKBKB@BM-MGCP. They run at 4266Mbps based on the chipset. The CPU and chipset are Intel Alder Lake H and the GPU is Iris Xe Graphics. What seems to be weird about yours is that the SF314-511 models are supposed to be Tiger Lake based, the Alder Lake models are supposed to be SF314-512, but they are Alder Lake P based, with the lower power needs. They must have made an interim change to the 511 models to give you yours.

Thanks, my bad, I made a mistake with the model number:
    It is SF314-71-52N4

Regarding the GPU you mentioned I have (Iris Xe Graphics) - I can't this information listed anywhere in Windows. All I see is Intel(R) UHD Graphics.

Any idea why that is? (do you know of any command or menu to go to in order to see more detailed information about the GPU?)

Don't worry about that, your system is OK. To check what GPU chip you have in Device Manager- Display adapters, that will state:  Intel UHD Graphics Xe G4 (48 EU). 😉

I already did that. The thing is that it only states Intel(R) UHD Graphics.
    Nothing more.

Where do you see the "Xe G4 (48 EU)" part?

    I only see:
Intel® UHD Graphics for 12th Gen Intel® Processors

Click on the i7 CPU in the link below and you will see that the GPU is IrisXe the i5 CPU (your model) comes with UHD GPU

https://nanoreview.net/en/laptop/acer-swift-3-sf314-71 Not only for Acer motherboards, I have an Asus OLED with i7 CPU and IrisXe GPU but the cheaper i5 model comes with only UHD graphics, I really did not plan to spend more money on a i7 but wanted the IrisXe GPU.

The Acer Swift SF314-511 model has the following cpu specs, that all have the same integrated Intel graphics as follows. GPU Name: Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics with Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency: 1.30 GHz and Graphics Output: eDP 1.4b, MIPI-DSI 2.0, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.0b and they are all an Intel 11th Gen cpu that has an integrated graphics inside the cpu, have a look at the i7 specs here > i7-1165G7 /i5-1135G7 /i3-1115G4 cpu's. Good luck'

Thanks, I was interested in the model SF314-71-52N4 with 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12450H processor, 16GB ram and 1TB storage, but I made a mistake in the 2nd post when mentioned the SF314-511 model. Sorry about the confusion.

Thank you, this is a really useful site!
I can also now share the link with my exact specs pre-filled:
    https://nanoreview.net/en/laptop/acer-swift-3-sf314-71?m=c.1_s.3

I still don't know what command I can give to the laptop to output the "Xe G4 (48 EU)" which is listed on the site. It would be nice to know that but none the less I really appreciate your help.

The Swift SF314-71-52N4 laptop that you want comes with the Intel® Core™ i7-12700H processor that has the integrated GPU Specifications of the following:

    • GPU Name‡ - Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics eligible (the latest graphics driver is the Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*)
    • Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.40 GHz
    • Graphics Output eDP 1.4b, DP 1.4a, HDMI 2.1
    • Max Resolution (HDMI)‡ 4096 x 2304 @ 60Hz
    • Max Resolution (DP)‡ 7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz
    • Max Resolution (eDP - Integrated Flat Panel)‡ 4096 x 2304 @ 120Hz

Note: that the Swift SF314-71-52N4 with the Intel® Core™ i7-12700H uses the Intel UHD Graphics Xe G4 48EUs which is an integrated graphics card found in low-end Tiger Lake U CPUs (15 Watt), such as the Core i3 11th Gen cpu. It uses the new Xe architecture (Gen12) and was announced in 2020. The performance depends on the laptop’s TDP settings and cooling. For gaming, it’s suitable for lowest graphical settings and low resolutions in demanding games. Compared to the fastest Ice Lake iGPU (Iris Plus G7), the 48 EU version in an i3 should be slightly faster. However, it lacks dedicated graphics memory and driver support, so gaming performance may not be optimal.

Here's the GPU spec from the service guide:

And here are the related CPUs:

The 12700H and 12500H have the Xe GPU, the 12650H and 12450H have the UHD. So you are correct, you have the UHD GPU rather than the Xe. The key is you are running 12th gen, so you have the 12th gen UHD.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am left with a more questions:
    1. You say I have the UHD GPU rather than the Xe.

Do you know why this site lists my SF314-71 as having what is called Intel UHD Graphics Xe G4 (48 EU) ?
    https://nanoreview.net/en/laptop/acer-swift-3-sf314-71?m=c.1_s.3

    2. Based on this site, if the listed information is correct, is seems UHD does not exclude Xe because it has both in the GPU name. What does Xe mean?

  • billsey
    billsey ACE Posts: 34,313 Trailblazer

The UHD vs Xe is CPU based, from what I understand. If they come with the 00H they have Xe, if with the 50H they are UHD.
