Acer Nitro AN517-41 webcamera not found, and now no driver

Hi!

I've had this Acer for around two years now, and I've never had to use the webcamera on it. But now when I needed it, the computer can't find a camera.

I googled around trying to find solutions to try. The last option I tried was to find the webcam driver in Devices, which was "hidden", and uninstall the driver in the hopes that it would reinstall. The driver didn't uninstall, and now there's nothing there.

I've tried to find the driver on this website for example, but no luck. I'm not sure how to proceed.

I'm not sure what information is needed, so I'll leave it like this and provide if requested. Help is much appreciated!

Regards,

Anton

Check if you have last year's BIOS version 1.11 and that Windows11 23H2 version is build: 22631.2527. The MOBO is from end 2020 with Widows 10 components and Windows11 upgrade/updates has issues (bug) detecting the integrated Webcam and Touchpad. This was fixed in the latest W11 updates. After you have updated BIOS and Windows run the Windows Camera troubleshooter and if still issues refresh the system image and repair the system files: Go online and open Command Prompt as administrator, paste this: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and after completion this: SFC /scannow that should end with "….did not find any integrity violations".

One of the below cameras is installed into your Nitro AN517-41 laptop, find the appropriate driver on the web for the camera that your laptop uses (search by camera name and Acer part number) and see if you can find this driver, then install the driver and see if it revives the driver of the camera and makes it work.

Otherwise, you might need to replace the camera with one of the below listed Chicony or Tech-Front cameras. You need to take the LCD bezel off your laptop, which is a big job and you should get an experienced technician that has all the appropriate tools to do this job for you, Good luck.

I have Windows 10, is there a similar path to check on this operative system?

You mention "one of the camers below" in the first paragraph as well as the second. Is there a missing photo of the kind of webcam I have on the PC at the moment?

Because now I only see the Chicony and Tech-front camera photo.

    Thanks.

The issue might cause due to drivers not being updated. So, I suggest you to update the drivers for Camera by following the steps below:

Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
    Expand Camera drivers.
Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.

Also, if the issue persists, I suggest you to manually download and install the latest drivers for the Camera from the manufacturer website and check if it helps.

    Hi!

Since I uninstalled the driver earlier, it's no longer there and I'm unable to update it.

I've also tried to find the driver on this website (Acer as the amnufacturer) and checking their driver list, but I can't find any driver listed as camera driver. I'll attach a photo with the driver list:
