New Acer Swift 3 - what actions might invalidate the warranty?

For example, if I open the case and swap the SSD for another?

That depends on the country you are from. They have different warranties for different locales. In some locations opening the case voids the warranty. Usually if that's the case they have a sticker over one of the screws that shows whether it's been opened. Check with Acer support for your locale to find out what the warranty requirements are for your country. If they don't allow opening it, you can usually send them the laptop and a replacement drive for them to do the swap at a nominal fee.
