Acer CP311-1H screens are dark randomly displaying a dark screen from time to time.

I have a number of CP311-1H Chromebooks (all manufactured 2019-2020) which are randomly displaying a dark screen from time to time. A restart sometimes fixes the issue and restores the screen to regular brightness, but not always. Devices are all up to date with the latest ChromeOS.

I have checked the brightness settings on the devices and that is not the issue (even at full brightness, the screen appears about 30% bright). I have also checked that night light mode is not on. If I take a screenshot of the screen when it is dark and then view the screenshot on another working device, the screen appears to be normal brightness, which suggests that it's not a display setting but rather some issue around the screen hardware.

See images, both of these screens have brightness turned up all the way using brightness buttons on the keyboard. Images taken with a separate phone, since an actual screenshot taken from the device would display at normal brightness. Any suggestions appreciated!
