Acer CXI 2GKM - Unable to Enter Recovery Reset Mode

Hi there.

Recently i have picked up a Box load of Older Acer CXI 2GKM ChromeBox's.

They are locked out to a School Administrator.

I have found that i am unable to enter the Factory Recovery Mode using the Rear Pin Reset / Power Up Button.

Can anyone advise how i can reset or reload on a Fresh Chrome Image.

Otherwise they will most probably end up as E-Waste.. It would be good to be able to give them away for Re-Use.

Any Help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Ask the School Administrator.

Any Enterprise ChromeOS system needs to be decommissioned by the network admin before changing the OS to a non-Enterprise version. Typical security to keep students from doing something really unsafe.

    Hi there..

    Thanks for your reply..

I will give the School a Call and see what sort of Help i get.

I'm guessing that Each ChromeBox would have to be Returned and Connected to their Network and Decomissioned / Disconnected that way ?…

If so - the Time taken to perform that activity i dont think theyd be interested in.

I was hoping a Reflash/Reload of ChromeOs of the Internal SSD drive would do the Trick.

    Cheers:

Stop guessing & hoping. Ask the school's administrator. 🙂

    Awesome Reply..

I can confirm i have been in contact with the School and they were honest - their IT Specialist Operates from a Remote Location and only comes to Site on an "As Required" Basis.

So that Pretty much Answers that Question.

All good - I'll probably just strip out the Ram/SSD Memory and Wifi Card and Trash the Rest.

Perhaps the school has the IT specialist's phone number, email address or even FAX.

All Sorted.. I ended up Stripping them all out. They weren't interested in Helping out.
