If you’re encountering a Touchpad error with Code 10 on your laptop, this error typically occurs when the touchpad stops working, and the affected HID device is displayed with a yellow warning sign in the Device Manager. Here are some steps you can take to resolve it:

    1. Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:
      • Sometimes this error occurs due to a hardware issue. Running the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter might help detect and fix the problem. After the troubleshooting completes, restart your device and check if the touchpad is working.
    2. Reinstall the HID-compliant touchpad driver:
      • Corrupted or outdated touchpad drivers can cause this issue. Follow these steps:
        • Open the Device Manager.
        • Expand the “Human Interface Devices” node.
        • Right-click on the “HID-compliant touch pad” and select “Uninstall device.”
        • If the touchpad driver is missing under “Human Interface Devices,” look for it under “Mice and other pointing devices.”
        • Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the device driver.
        • After the process completes, restart your laptop. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and install the latest touchpad driver.
    3. Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter:
      • Some users have reported this issue after a recent Windows 10 update. Compatibility issues can cause such problems. Running the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter might help.
    4. Restore touchpad settings to default:
      • Sometimes custom touchpad settings can lead to errors. Restoring them to default might resolve the issue.
    5. Disable and re-enable the touchpad from BIOS:
      • Access your laptop’s BIOS settings and check if the touchpad is enabled. If not, enable it.
    6. Reset BIOS to default:
      • Resetting BIOS settings to default can sometimes fix hardware-related issues.

If your touchpad still doesn't work consider either using a mouse or changing the touchpad and its cable for a new one that is faulty, Good luck.

Try fn + f6 or f6 alone or fn + f7 or f7 alone on keyboard to disable and enable the touchpad. Please look at the key f6 and f7 key on keyboard . You can see the hand symbol with fingers . That denotes the touchpad function key.

    Hi StevenGen,
Thank you for your time to answer my question. I have tried all the steps from 1-4. But still not working. For step 5 and 6. I tried enter my BIOS but i don't see any particular section to enable/disable touchpad. Previously my touchpad also had the same prob for quite some time i did all all the steps above and try unplug then plug the cable for the touchpad but still not working. Then after few months the touchpad suddenly works just fine but this time the issue came back. I'm not sure if this is regarding the compatibility with Windows 11 or the cable issue.

    Hi Axxo,
Thank you for your reply, but i don't think it is the issue with touchpad enable/ disable because i've tried that also. Because right now the device manager shows that the device got error 10.

Then your touchpad is faulty and needs replacing, first check its cable if its plugged into the touchpad properly, if it is, the its the actual touchpad and that needs replacing with the part number touchpad I've given you above. Good luck
