Hi,

I like to buy the laptop mentioned above, however I'm a Linux user (openSUSE-Tumbleweed).

I would like to know if other users are having experience with running Linux on this Acer laptop.

Will everything run without issues?

Thanks for your support.

Rgds.

Yes, there's no issue. I personally run Pop Os and it run perfectly fine..

Also make sure you know what you are doing because here we mostly know about windows not linux. In case you face any problem then It will be that linux distro issue not your laptop.

Companies doesn't matters, Linux distro need to have perfect support for Intel, Nvidia, amd gpu.

For example on pop os there was two ISO one for Intel and Nvidia and one for Only amd.

Typically there is a delay between release of the newest models and full Linux support. I expect most distributions will run out of the box, but they might have features that don't yet work, like fingerprint sensing.

I've tried Pop!_OS but still haven't detected a sound card, only a 'dummy output'. Could you please share the specifications of your Pop!_OS setup?

    Problems for Linux:

    • no sound
      https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/issues/4923
    • no resolution for ultrawide monitors
      https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/10956
and although the above fixes are not released yet, they could be applied and it was ok, but a new problem appeared:
    • additional virtual display
      https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/12160
which probably currently also spoils the sound

Another half a year and it will be usable under Linux :)

There are no such problems under Windows 11, but the work of the processor fan is very irritating. For example, when I browse the Internet in Chrome, it is quiet, but just move the mouse and the fan starts working. Not too loud, but it is irritating.

The work culture is definitely better under Linux. The fan works but it is definitely quieter.
