Aspire 3 Laptop “This sign in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shut

The problem is this: Wednesday at 5 pm I restarted my laptop ( one time ) because the internet was funny. When I tried to sign in again to unlock it it said this “This sign in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns. Use a different sign-in option or keep your device powered on for at least 2 hours and try again”. So I left it on for two hours and tried again and it still said the same thing. It is now the following day at midday and it still shows the same result. Does anyone know the possible cause or course of action for this? I personally am stumped but am also very hopeless at working computers.
