ACER Predator Helios Neo 16 not charging anymore

Hi, I had my laptop for almost a year and today while playing a game I heard a click noise from the laptop and then it turned off. The screen went black and all lights turned off immediatly. Then I couldn't start it up anymore and I unplugged it to be safe. After about 10min I tried again and it was turning on again. But now it doesn't charge anymore. If I plug it in, the battery just stays about the same, it even went down a bit.

Is the battery broken or the port?

Has anyone had this issue? I didn't spill anything on it and have no idea what it could be.

In the worst case I will have to save everything and get a replacement.

The Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 laptop is still under the Acer 2-year warranty, the problem that you are having is that the charging rail inside you laptop has shorted out and needs repairing, which Acer will not do and will change the mainboard for a new one. Be aware that a new Mainboard PHN16-71 Intel Ci713700HX - HM770 GN21-X4 8GB - Acer part #: NB.QLU11.002 is USD $2360.38 which is close to what you paid for your laptop new just for the board then +++😁 so be very careful with warranty work for your laptop and get Acer to fix everything within the warranty period!

Take/send your laptop to Acer Tech Support in your country, don't open and/or try to fix anything yourself on this laptop as it will void the warranty. Get Acer Tech Support to diagnose the laptops' fault and change the appropriate parts on your PHN16-71 laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

You can use the laptop with the adapter plugged in, as you shouldn't have any problems, but backup all your files and take this laptop to Acer Tech Support asap as its got a charging circuitry problem and could even have a failed fused in the battery from the failed charging circuitries which will mean that you need a new battery also which is big dollars to replace a mainboard and battery for this laptop and change.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I will go next week when I have time. I was going to backup some stuff on a external harddisc to be save. Can I use the laptop savely as long as it stays plugged in or should I not use it until I fix it?

    Thanks

And just to be sure, as it is the first time I am dealing with something like this in general, as long I have the warranty I don't need to pay anything and they will fix everthing needed right?

I also currently have 26% will I be able to use it, while plugged in, even at 0%?

Thanks again for your help @StevenGen and have a good night and a great start of your next week.

Yes, the laptop will work with the adapter plugged in but once you take the adapter out the laptop will not have regain any files and have a memory, so save all your files before you unplug the adapter.

This just happened to me. Exact same thing. Battery stuck at 19% now. Did you ever get the repair work done and how much did it cost you? How long does the service take because I have exams all through next week and It'll be hard to manage without a laptop.

Hi, I brought it to the store I bought it from and they sent it in to be repaired. But after 2 weeks the store was informed that they couldn't repair it or it was not worth to repair it so they gave me a coupon that was worth the price of the laptop and I just bought a new one.

Sorry this is probably not the answer you were hoping for but you should be able to use it while plugged in.
