I wanted to install a new SSD in my Nitro 17 AN51-17, but couldn't get any insualtive foil. Someone suggested me put a themal pad on it. Can I use it just with the thermal pad on? I fear it might melt and damage other components.

    Here is a quote from someone answering a similar question:

    "The main reason of the shield on the SSD is not protecting the SSD
    itself (although due to the principle of reciprocity, the computer and
    SSD are indeed also protected from the external interference), but to
    ensure that radiation from the computer conforms to electromagnetic
    compatibility regulations and does not generate harmful interference."

    You do not need the foil on the new SSD. Using the thermal pad is up to you, but if you do use the thermal pad I would make sure the pad is contacting the bottom plate of the laptop so that the heat actually dissipates instead of accumulating.

    @Razvun

    You can just use the thermal pad. It can withstand high temperatures so you don't have to worry about melting.

    Thank you and have a nice day!
