My laptop model is Predator PH315-54. Today while using the laptop for work purposes, i suddenly received "Acer Power Button" Popup, after 2 seconds my laptop suddenly shutdown. It happened so fast that i cannot do anything to prevent the shutdown. Then i tried to turn the laptop back on, after pressing the power button multiple times only the laptop can turn on. I suspect that the power button on my keyboard is faulty. In the quick access menu, under the power button settings, i set when pressing the power button, the laptop goes to sleep. However, after this incident, when i intentionally pressed the power button, the "Acer Power Button" Popup appears and forced my laptop to shutdown. Please help to solve my issue.

Your power button settings are fine, but your laptop probably had a moment of a frozen EC chip that stopped the laptop functions mid-way through when you were using the laptop. You need to do a Hard Reset first and see if it will unfreeze this chip or other chips in your laptop, as this is a common symptom, and a hard rest does fix these sorts of sudden power crashes.

What you need to do is to take the back cover off, take the main battery out then disconnect the rtc/bios battery plug from the mainboard and as soon as you do that, short the rtc/bios battery mainboard plug +&- pins with a metal screwdriver, as this will reset the CMOS also, then take the ram out and leave the laptop like that for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) afterwards, reconnect all components and see if the laptop rests and works correctly after this hard reset.

If it doesn't then you have other power issues like a faulty power switch or mainboard key or even a power main rail fault. If your laptop is still under the Acer 2-year warranty, then take/send your laptop to Acer Support in your area and get them to fix these sorts of faults. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
