Hello,

My Swift X started beeping (two beeps) before being booted.

I read that 2 beeps mean a problem with the CMOS battery.

Where can I get a replacement battery?

Thanks.

After less than 3 years it is highly unlikely that the CMOS battery died. You can get the RTC coin battery CR2032 or other CR20XX in any computer shop or department store. Probably the beeping is coming from the onboard speaker power alert, whenever the power from the adapter is even slightly interrupted (city power) you will hear a beep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgPORakQyLA

The SFX14-41 laptop has a special RTC/BIOS battery and most department stores don't stock this type of battery, you need to find out from a specialist computer shop if they have these batteries. Best is to buy them from a reputable Acer parts retailer in your area, as this battery is insulated and has a plug that needs to lug into the mainboard and its not just a plain CR2032 battery.

The CMOS battery must be treated with great care, since the internal clock is constantly powered by it and the computer should not be left turned off for many months without operation and recharging, so that the battery does not degrade after it is completely discharged. CMOS also stores data for the now prevalent UEFI boot. To improve security, Windows 11 uses TPM 2.0. Poor quality batteries may explode.
