SF314-54G RAM increase Is it possible to add 16GB in place of the removable 4GB?

I'm aware that this laptop has 4GB soldered on and 4GB removable. Is it possible to add 16GB in place of the removable 4GB? I am thinking of using a Crucial RAM unit with 16GB and the same CL+MHz specs as the removable and soldered units.

No, if the 20GB works at all, it will work at the normal speed. Spec says it will not work, but we have seen an occasional model in the past where it did.

The below tables are your Acer Swift SF314-54G laptops memory specs details, if your SF314-54G is the 4GB onboard memory version then the max memory is 12GB max total, so you can add a 1x DDR4-2666Mhz module. Do not use the Crucial SF314-54G scan results as its wrong.

I've seen user on these forums report that they've been able to add 16GB to get a total of 20 for the SF314, would it maybe be worth trying to see if I can raise it to this level?

No you can't, if 4GB is soldered as stated above all you can add is an 8GB DDR4-2666MHz Standard JEDEC SODIMM (12GB total RAM).

Is it worth using 2666 RAM seeing as the one soldered on is 2400? Won't that mean it is automatically underclocked to 2400?

Memory speed is set by the chipset and the SF314-54G models came with either a 7th gen or 8th gen chipset. IIRC they use 2400 memory on the 7th gen and 2666 on the 8th gen. Don't pay extra to buy memory faster than what is soldered in, since it will just be down clocked to the same speed as the rest of the system.

Is it true that if i use 20GB (4+16) instead of the max 12 (4+8) then my speed will be limited to 1200MHz instead of the base 2400Mhz?
