I have an Acer Nitro 5, AN515-57, and I have recently been having an issue where I will be playing a game and suddenly my CPU temp will spike 30 degrees and my fans will start spinning on max even after the temperature has dropped. I was playing the game for an hour before then with temperatures stable at around 65 degrees, then the CPU will suddenly jump to 90+. I start closing my game and all the tabs I have running to see if any of those are the issue, but the fans still wont stop until shut down the laptop. I'm worried I may have a virus or something that's causing the temp spike, but I've run a virus scan and found nothing.

Your NitroSense settings are wrong, you need to turn CoolBoost ON! Also, playing a game for 1 hour the laptop gets hot and accumulates that heat inside its enclosure and no wonder the fsans go crazy whenthe cpu/gpu are hot😀. Set the NitroSense like below, as this setting will appropriately increase cpu/gpu fan speeds to dissipate heat appropriately for the cpu/gpu..

Also the AN515-57 has an OS shut down at 100°C and its PROCHOT at 98°C, which is the Bi-directional Processor Hot settings, which is an emergency throttling mechanism triggered when a CPU reaches its maximum temperature which is at 100°C for the AN515-57. The NitroSense below was taken at idle at room temp 85F (its summer in my neck of the woods) and its from my AN515-56 (i7-11370H/RTX3050) and my laptop doesn't overheat at all in gaming, so try that setting below and let us know. Also, repaste the cpu/gpu and clean the fans and vents, if you haven't done so yet to this laptop and use a tablet cooler if you play games for such long periods of time, as that cools a laptop down also . Good luck and hope this helps you out.
